Unless, that is, you combine it with the Law of Action.
The movie, “The Secret” was both a blessing and a curse to the Quantum Physics and spiritual community alike. On one hand it raised some much needed awareness on the concept that the universe is abundant and magnificent; that anything that we want for ourselves and our lives is, indeed available to us. But what “The Secret” failed to reveal is how we actually turn what we want in to what we have.
Why am I writing about the Law of Attraction in a business blog?
Whether you want a new porsche or to increase your sales by 50%, you must start with a clear precise vision of exactly what you want and then you must build a strategy in order to acheive that goal. Staring at a picture or wishing on a star will only make you frustrated if you are just sitting on your bum waiting for your dream to turn in to reality.
The other day, I was listening to a radio show hosted by one of the foremost authorities of quantum theory and goal acheivement. A small business owner called in to the show and asked him the following question:
“My business brings me $80,000 in revenues a year but on my Vision Board, I have a picture of my dream house that is worth $5M. At this point, I not only can’t afford the house, but also have no idea how I am going to acheive it. Should I replace the picture with a house that is more within my reach?”
The Answer: “Absolutely Not! The purpose of a Vision Board is to get you fully associated with the things that you want in life; not the things you know can get, but the things that stretch you further than that. The visual image of that “thing” helps you to focus on a clear precise picture so that you know exactly where you are aiming. In addition, that focus will put you in the right universal vibration to attract all of the opportunities that vibrate at the same frequency as that house,” if this is getting to deep for you, hold on, I’m coming back down to earth.
He continues to say that, “most people do exactly what you do, they get so caught up in the HOW of getting what they want, that they end up spinning their wheels and giving up. If you want that house, start to work backwards and create a strategy around how you are going to get it”.
Then he asked the following questions (which were brilliant in my opinion):
- What is your revenue goal for the end of this year?
- How many sales will it take for you to get there?
- Of that additional revenue, how much can you save towards the down payment on that house?
- If you reach your goal this year, how are you going to grow your business to be able to save more next year? Will you increase your goals, diversify your product line, lower your costs?
- By the end of the second year, how much will you be able to save?
In a matter of minutes, something that seemed so ominous, overwhelming, unattainable was right there within reach. Now the caller had the vision AND the plan- the perfect soil for the Law of Attraction to sprout.
What this means for you?
1. Determine exactly what it is in your business that you want (more clients, a virtual assistant, a second location, a killer salesperson).
2. Get crystal clear on that goal- if there is a picture associated with it, put it in a place where you can see it and focus on it daily (remember- the vibration)
3. Create an action plan of simple, clear, easy to follow steps to take out the overwhelm.
4. Go for it!
